Build link relationships today!

To improve your web site rankings on search engines, be sure to develop link relationships with others who offer a similar, but non-competing service. The more relevant the subject matter in the two linked sites, the more likely it is that the search engines will give you ranking points. It takes time, but it is most definitely worth the effort!

Long-term domain ownership

When you lease a domain name, you should buy the maximum number of years possible. Search engines consider this when they spider your site. A domain name leased for only a year or two is considered to be less "stable" than one leased for 10 years. If you do decide to lengthen your lease term, check out www.godaddy.com. They are reputable, big, and a great value!

Making text links look like plain text

It is a good idea to link your important keywords on a web page to whatever page on your site contains similar information. If you don't like the blue, underlined text all over the place, you can make the text color match the rest of your text, remove the underline, and your text will look normal while the link still works.

This means that a search bot can spider your site from this keyword and if your visitors roll over the word with their mouse, they will know the word is linked. Give it a try and see what you think.

How fast do your pages load?

Make sure your pages load as fast as possible. Don't overload the page with graphics or use graphics that have large file sizes. You can resave .jpg images for web use without sacrificing on-line viewing quality.

Even in this day of high-speed connections, pages can still load slowly and even for reasons outside of your direct control. People get impatient and, if your page does not load soon enough, they will leave your web site in search of something else.

Check your pages today and if they don't load within a second or two, you may have some work to do.
